Aiken Technical College is a recipient of the Workforce Opportunities in Regional Careers (WORC) grant which aims to connect area residents with educational opportunities to obtain skills most needed by the U.S. Department of Energy. The nuclear industry is a major employer in our area, offering high-paying jobs to people with specialized skills. Work related to the Savannah River Site accounts for around 10,000 jobs. Also, there are additional regional nuclear power plans that employ hundreds more.

Programs of Focus

The College offers several programs of study that can lead to career pathways in the nuclear industry.

Programs include:

  • Engineering Graphics Technology
  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Industrial Maintenance Technology
  • Machine Tool/CNC Technology
  • Nuclear Fundamentals Certificate
  • Radiation Protection Technology
  • Welding

Classes for these programs are taught in state-of-the-art facilities by instructors who have years of experience in the field. Students also have access to academic support resources to help them on their journey to success. (Enrolling in and/or completing a program does not guarantee employment.)

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Aiken Technical College offers quality education at an affordable price. In addition, several financial aid options are available, including SC Lottery Tuition Assistance for eligible South Carolina residents.

Students enrolled in the above programs of study may also apply for a WORC grant.
