Aiken Technical College is approved by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education to offer Veterans Education benefits. Veterans Education benefits are available for training veterans and dependents under Title 38 and Title 10 of the U.S. Codes.
VA Education Benefits Overview
Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB)
The MGIB program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. This benefit is paid directly to the student.

Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation and Educational (VR&E)
The VR&E goal is to help veterans with service-connected disabilities retrain and prepare for re-entry into the workforce. This benefit pays tuition and fees.

Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill
The Post 9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. This benefit pays tuition and fees directly to the college. Housing and book allowances are paid to the student.

Chapter 35 Survivors and Dependent Educational Assistant Program
Dependents' Educational Assistance provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents and spouses of certain veterans. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits. This benefit is paid directly to the student.

Chapter 1606 Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)
The MGIB-SR program may be available to members of the Selected Reserve. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. This benefit is paid directly to the student.

Chapter 1607 Reserve Educational Assistance Program
This education benefit program is designed to provide educational assistance to members of the Reserve components called or ordered to active duty in response to a war or national emergency (contingency operation) as declared by the President or Congress. This benefit is paid directly to the student.

State Educational Benefit
Free Tuition for Certain War Veterans Children
A child of a wartime veteran may be eligible to receive this benefit. Eligibility and application information may be obtained from any County Veterans Affairs Office or by contacting the Governor’s Office, Department of Administration at (803) 647-2434. This program waives tuition only.
