Pre-Engineering Academy

The Pre-Engineering Academy is a certificate-granting pre-engineering program that enrolls eligible district, private, and home-schooled students in both general education and engineering courses at Aiken Technical College.
Admission Criteria
Students must have a minimum PSAT score of 50 in verbal and 50 in math – or equivalent scores on the high school ACT or SAT, or on placement test(s) given by ATC Counseling Services. Students must also meet Aiken Technical College’s standard admissions requirements, including permission from the home institution. Transportation
Transportation will be provided for Aiken County School District Students. These provisions will follow current transportation guidelines for getting to the Career Center. Transportation for the Pre-Engineering Academy will be provided from the Aiken County Career Center to ATC. With school permissions, students may also drive to the ATC campus.
Steps to Apply

District public school students
  1. Obtain the following forms from your guidance counselor. Or you can download and print them by clicking on the links below. The District Guidelines form is only available from your guidance counselor. Your high school transcripts are only available from your high school admissions office.
  2. Complete all parts of the forms.
  3. Obtain necessary signatures.
  4. Return all 3 completed forms along with your high school transcripts to your guidance counselor. (Counselors will submit Pre-Engineering Academy packets to the Director of Dual-Enrollment who will then forward to the Pre-Engineering Academy Coordinator.)
Private and Home-school students
  1. Download and print out the following forms.
  2. Complete all parts of the forms.
  3. Obtain necessary signatures. Parents may sign as Home School Authority.
  4. Return all 3 completed forms to the ATC counseling office.
