2008 Season Recap

The Lady Knights completed an outstanding season in 2008, setting yet another school record for wins with 36 games! The Lady Knights team finished second in the regular season, earning them the second seed in the Region X Conference Tournament. A disappointing loss to Spartanburg in the championship game left the Lady Knights as the runner-up for the third year in a row. Along the way the Lady Knights were invited to the Leadoff Classic in Panama City where they finished 2nd in the Bronze bracket. They also finished third in the ATC tournament and competed in the Gold Bracket of the Wallace State JUCO Tournament in Alabama. They also placed 6 members of their team on the All-Conference Team with 2 all tournament members.

The team hosted the third annual Ringor Fastpitch Invitational in February that attracted 24 teams from across the south. The fourth annual spring tournament is scheduled in February 2008 with a strong field representing 7 different states; Georgia, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and South Carolina.

In their four years of competition, the Lady Knights have compiled a career record of 123 wins and 65 losses increasing the win total each year. In their first season they were 24-16, 2nd year 31-10, 3rd year 32-21 and this year 36-18.

Ten outstanding high school seniors have signed to play with the Lady Knights in 2008-2009. Along with 4 returning players from 2007-2008 and one transfer, the Lady Knights should again challenge for a conference championship and a berth in the NJCAA Division I National Championship.

2008 Region 10 Awards

Several members of the 2008 Lady Knights softball team were recognized for their athletic performance during the Carolina’s Junior College Conference softball season at the Region 10/District J Softball Tournament recently conducted at Byerly Park in Hartsville, SC. The following players earned Region and National honors in 2008:
