Coach Wells begins his fourth season as the Lady Knights head coach in 2007-08. In Wells’ first three seasons at ATC the Lady Knights compiled an overall record of 87 wins and 47 losses (0.649), including a regular season conference title in 2006. The 2007-2008 Lady Knights generated a school record 32 wins. Having been in on the establishment of women’s fastpitch softball at ATC from its earliest planning stages, he has worked to develop a program that emphasizes the growth, development, and success of today’s student-athlete. Wells believes that ATC provides a unique opportunity for young ladies to achieve success in the classroom and continue their athletic careers beyond high school. Coach Wells’ softball background includes extensive travel ball experience. He founded the Aiken Youth Fastpitch Association and coached on the 14U, 16U and 18U teams from their inception. Coach Wells is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and was selected as the 2005 and 2006 NJCAA Region X Coach of the Year.
Wells has over 30 years experience working in higher education. He is completing his 28th year at Aiken Technical College and currently serves as the Director of Planning & Research. He graduated from the Baptist College at Charleston with a bachelor’s degree in management and earned a master’s degree in management from Webster College. Coach Wells lives in Aiken with his wife Beverly. They have one daughter, Allyson, who is a second year medical student at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.
Shondra Schlichenmayer

Coach Shondra “Slick” Schlichenmayer joined the Lady Knight coaching staff in 2006-2007 and enters her second year in 2007-2008. She played collegiate softball at Otero Junior College in Colorado for two years. While at Otero, Coach “Slick” started both years in the outfield and led the nation in home runs during her sophomore year. She left Otero to play in the outfield for the College of Charleston where she completed her collegiate playing career and earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology in May 2006. During the summer of 2006 she joined the USA International Team to play in Belgium and looks forward to another overseas trip.
Jayme Durand

Coach Durand begins her second season with the Lady Knights in 2007-2008. She graduated from the College of Charleston with a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communication. Coach Durand played two years for the Cougars where she was selected as a first team All Southern Conference catcher during her junior year. Prior to playing at the College of Charleston she played for two years at the University of South Carolina-Aiken. While at USC-A she was named the 2002 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. Coach Durand grew up in North Augusta and is a graduate of Silver Bluff High School. She has played on the USA International Team in Belgium and looks forward to international competition and travel in the future.
