Authority and Mission

Aiken Technical College has contracted with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office to provide a Deputy on campus. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with ATC is committed to providing professional services to the ATC Community. Our effectiveness is largely dependent upon the assistance and cooperation of everyone in our campus community. ACSO Deputies, Regent Security Officers, administration, faculty, and staff members strive to promote open communication and to maintain an atmosphere of courtesy, fairness and concern.

Regent Security officers on campus are appointed and commissioned as State Constables by the Governor of the State of South Carolina. They are empowered to enforce the laws of South Carolina with statewide jurisdiction and arrest powers. Regent Security Officers are licensed by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and have the same powers of arrest as any Deputy in the performance of their duties on Aiken Technical College Property.

The safety and well being of our community members are always at the top of our agenda. A safe campus can only be achieved through the cooperation of our campus community as a whole. The majority of crimes on campus are crimes of opportunity. The willingness of our campus population to secure their property and to report suspicious activity is essential to the prevention of these thefts. Our goal is to prevent crimes from occurring and to respond and provide assistance once a crime has occurred.

Services

Regent Security officers provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. These services include: emergency response to crimes in progress or life threatening incidents, response to medical emergencies, foot patrol, escort services, and limited parking lot assistance.

Parking Decals

Parking decals are available to students in the Security Building, #650. Students must provide their class schedule and vehicle registration (bill of sale may be substituted) for the vehicle they wish to register with Aiken Technical College.

Hours are:

8am - 6pm Monday thru Thursday
8:30am - 2pm Friday

The first parking decal is included with students' fees. Replacement, secondary and temporary parking decals are available for a fee of $2 to be paid at the cashier’s window or book store .

Student Identification (ID) Cards

Identification (ID) cards are available to students at ATC Security building #650.

The first ID card is included with students' fees. Additional or replacement ID cards may be obtained for a fee of $10 to be paid at the cashier’s window or book store .

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security offers a variety of subjects and information related to emergencies and disasters as well as threats to safety.
