Outstanding Students
Receive Honors, Scholarships
The best and brightest students were recently honored for their academic and extracurricular contributions to Aiken Technical College. The annual Awards Night brought together students, faculty, families and friends to celebrate the hard work that culminated in awards and scholarships.
Outstanding Student awards were bestowed on: Shelia Johnson, Business and Public Service; Ross Lemon, Industry and Skilled Trades; Carol Wammock, Associate in Arts; Eli McPherson, Associate in Science; Shelby Adams, Nursing; Ashley Nance, Allied Health; and Gregory Moore, Computer Technology and Engineering.
The "Buck" Grant Award winners were Claudia Fulmer, degree program and Victor Maas, certificate program. The highest honor the College bestows, this award is named in honor of George "Buck" Grant, the chairman of the Aiken County legislative delegation during ATC's formative years and a major supporter of technical education. The award requires that the student hold a minimum 3.0 GPA, be involved in extracurricular activities at the College and have the potential to enhance the College's image in the future.
Men's basketball players were also honored for their contibutions to the College: Antrjuan Albright received the Charles Welch Dedication award; Dajuwan Carter received the CAB (character, academics and basketball) award; Anthony Rapley won rookie of the year; and Brandon Roland earned the basketball leadership award.
Additionally, over 55 scholarships were presented to students by the ATC Foundation. Instructor of sociology, Beth Williams, was the keynote speaker.
