Academic Success Center

The mission of the Academic Success Center (ASC) is to enhance student learning by offering support services to students in a friendly customer-oriented environment.

Early Alert Program

The ATC Early Alert Program is an important aspect of the Center. Implemented during the fall of 2001, the Early Alert Program provides students with a timely evaluation of their academic progress. Approximately three weeks into the semester, faculty members place students who are having academic difficulties on “early alert” and refer them to the Academic Success Center and/or the Counseling Center. Because of early intervention, at-risk students have an opportunity to improve their grades or drop a course as necessary.

Services

Tutoring Services are an integral part of the Center. Peer tutors, faculty, and ATC graduates provide excellent tutorial assistance to students through open labs, individual and group tutoring, and software programs.

ATC students may apply for tutoring at any point in a semester. Appointments are not necessary, but all students are required to log in for sessions. Services are free to currently enrolled ATC students and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

To apply students should obtain and complete a Request for Tutoring Assistance form and return it to the Tutoring Coordinator or Director. Tutors may be available for immediate assistance, or several days may be required to arrange a session.

Tutoring services are contingent upon funding and the availability of qualified tutors.

If students need immediate assistance, they may access helpful Web sites including resources and tutorials. Students may also email Academic Success Center tutors at success@atc.edu. Tutors will do their best to promptly reply.

Hours

Tutoring hours vary, but the Academic Success Center is generally open:

Fall and Spring semesters

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m
Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Summer sessions

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday: Closed
