Congratulations, graduate! We are excited to celebrate the completion of your program(s) of study at ATC’s 2016 Commencement Ceremonies on May 5, 2016 as you prepare for the next step in your journey. Our Nursing (ADN & PN, Business/Computer Technology, and General Education graduates will be recognized in a ceremony at 3 p.m. Our Allied Health and Technical Education graduates will be recognized in a separate ceremony at 7 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place in ATC’s Gymnasium, in the Student Activities Center (900 Building).
Graduates in the 3 p.m. ceremony MUST arrive by 2 p.m. Graduates in the 7 p.m. ceremony MUST arrive by 6 p.m. Processional order will be finalized and you will be given final directions.
Please use this letter as a guide through the steps leading up to Commencement day. Caps and Gowns
You may order your cap and gown from the ATC bookstore through March 11, 2016. There is a $20.00 processing fee. You will receive an email from the bookstore once your cap and gown is ready for pick-up, and a picture ID will be required. Caps and gowns MUST be picked up from the bookstore by May 4 at 5 p.m.
Graduates who plan to participate in the May 5 Commencement ceremonies are required to attend the Commencement rehearsal on Wednesday, May 4 at 11 a.m. in the ATC Gymnasium (900 Building). At rehearsal, you will receive a card with your name and credential earned, which you must bring with you to the May 5 Commencement ceremonies.
If you have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher as of the Fall 2015 Semester, you are entitled to wear an Honor Sash during the Commencement ceremonies. Honor sashes are sold in the bookstore. PTK members and veterans/active duty military may also wear designated cords, which can be purchased through the ATC bookstore with PTK or veteran/military identification.
Announcements will be distributed with cap and gown orders. Each graduate ordering a cap and gown will receive 10 announcements to share with family and friends, though neither announcements nor tickets are required for Commencement. Each graduate may invite as many guests as he/she would like.
A brief reception for you and your family will be held in the College’s Commons area outside of the Student Activities Center immediately following each ceremony.
Wear appropriate clothes and shoes (no flip flops or sneakers) under cap and gown
Wear a white blouse or shirt if you have one; otherwise, a plain-collared top garment
Bring any bobby pins or other items you may need to secure your cap
The cap’s tassel is worn to the right as you enter the gym and moved to the left as you exit as a graduate
Please ask your guests to be courteous and remain in the gym and seated throughout the ceremony. Guests who do not arrive on time will have to wait to enter the gym.
Please turn of all electronic devices
Please give purses, backpacks, or any other personal items to family and friends. These items should not be taken into the ceremony with you, or left unattended
