This position will augment the faculty in the MTT program. Under the supervision of the Department Chair, this position performs classroom and laboratory instructional duties in the machine tool program. These duties may involve cross-discipline activities with the industrial maintenance technology program for common core classes related to MTT. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule as dictated by the semester scheduling needs of the program and the department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Instruction including hands on and theory, classroom management, and administrative tasks that may include reports, syllabus and lesson plan development.
• Prepare and/or maintain current course syllabi for course taught.
• Ensure that course is taught in accordance with the established syllabi.
• Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course.
• Recommend adequate laboratory facilities/equipment for assigned course.
• Supervision of students.
Associate’s degree in Machine Tool Technology or a related industrial discipline with five (5) years direct experience in the machining trade. Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited school will be required for applicants teaching transferable courses. Knowledge and experience in operating mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses [conventional and Computer Numeric Control (CNC), Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM)] are required. Bachelor’s degree in industrial related field and some level of teaching or training experience are preferred. The applicant must be able to work in a team environment utilizing effective communication skills. The applicant must also be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and be able to develop programs and curricula to industry needs.
