JOB DESCRIPTION:
Implement Paramedic Program curriculum in accordance with DOT and DHEC standards. Supervise other Paramedic instructors in the program. Assignments may include theory courses, skills laboratory supervision and instruction, and/or community based field learning assignments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assess, develop, and update curriculum as it relates to EMS licensure and adult students in such a manner as to provide them with marketable job skills upon completion of the program.
• Work with the instructors and cooperating agencies in planning and implementing clinical experiences.
• Evaluate the accomplishments of students on a scheduled basis and provide grades at end of each course in the EMT-Paramedic program.
• Supervise EMT-Paramedic students in clinical settings (as assigned) to ensure proper procedures are followed at all times, as are the procedures of the clinical facility in which the students are practicing.
• Establish and coordinate the meetings of the EMT-Paramedic advisory committee and provide input about the relevance of curriculum and equipment utilized in the program.
• Work with instructors to facilitate the operation of the health simulation labs.
• Maintain continuous contact with businesses and industries throughout the district, which employ paramedics. Gain information regarding new techniques, or equipment which could be implemented in the program as well as seek employment for graduating students.
• Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by Aiken Technical College and assist administration in implementing all policies and/or procedures governing student conduct.
• Join and participate in professional as well as civic organizations.
• Attend staff meetings called by the Vice-President of Education and Training, Dean or Department Chair.
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and closely monitor use of inventory items to prevent loss, damage, or theft.
• Promote Meridian Technology Center and its programs and employees at every available opportunity, with specific responsibilities for recruitment and promotion of the EMT-Paramedic program.
• Maintain up-to-date equipment in the EMT-Paramedic program for relevant training of students.
• Utilize proper purchasing procedures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Current Authorization by DHEC as a Lead Paramedic Instructor or ability to obtain authorization by documentation of the following:
Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years experience as a Paramedic
Licensure as a SC NREMT-Paramedic
Current CPR Instructor Certification
Completion of NHTSA Instructor Methodology course
Completion of College-Level Anatomy and Physiology Course
Completion of approved RSI and 12-Lead ECG Course
Current Trauma Instructor Course Certification (BTLS, CTC, PHTLS)
Current ACLS Instructor Certification
Current Pediatric Course Instructor (PALS, PEPP, PEMSTP)
