JOB DESCRIPTION: 
Responsible for teaching in the Associate Degree Nursing Program as well as the Practical Nursing Program.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Teach courses as assigned (lecture, lab and clinical) in accordance with the established syllabi of the Nursing Program.
• Advise and register assigned students; participate in retention, placement and cooperative educational experiences. Make Counseling Services referrals as appropriate.
• Prepare and/or maintain current course syllabi, course outlines and develop classroom expectations for each assigned course.
• Maintain accurate academic records.
• Research and recommend adequate instructional materials for the assigned courses.
• Provide, prepare and maintain adequate classroom and lab facilities and equipment for assigned courses.
• Participate in the development of departmental budgets, reports and objectives.
• Participate in the development of course schedules.
• Serve on instructional committees.
• Represent the Nursing Department, the Health Science Division and the College by participating in community and professional meetings.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree in Nursing or a Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Nursing as well as three (3) years of recent nursing practice and two years clinical experience in pediatrics required.  Current license to practice as a registered nurse in South Carolina required; Georgia nursing license will be required upon employment.  Preferred requirements include:  Clinical experience in obstetrics.  Computer literate and excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently, manage time and organize multiple tasks.
