Meet Our Faculty

Tracy McAfee: Speech Instructor; Tracy McAfee is used to looking out over a classroom full of deer-in-the-headlights eyes.; As a speech instructor, he teaches students how to meet the most frightening social experience most of them will ever face: getting up to speak in front of an audience.; “A lot of people are terrified when they first start out,” he said. “But learning to give a speech is a great confidence builder. Anyone can give a speech once they know how to do it. After that, they may not like to give speeches, but they know they can do it because they’ve gotten past the stage fright.”; Tracy should know a thing or two about stage fright. His office is lined with posters of the Broadway shows he has seen.; “I’m a big fan. I’ve taught theater in the past, too,” he said.; Another great McAfee passion is Ohio State football. He has so many mementoes in his office that he’s known as ‘the Buckeye Guy.’ Tracy, who holds a Master of Arts in Speech and Theater Education from Ohio State University, has 22 years of teaching experience, with the last 18 being at the community college level.; He encourages all students to take speech at some point in their educations.; “People who can communicate are more successful than those who can’t,” he said. “You have to be able to talk to people.”
