More Than $75,000 in Scholarships Available for New Aiken Technical College Students

Scholarship application deadline July 1

(May 26, 2015, Aiken, SC) The Aiken Technical College (ATC) Foundation will award more than $75,000 in scholarships for the 2015-16 school year, and applications are needed by July 1.

“We’re helping students in the community pursue their goal of higher education. Aiken Tech is a good value and with the scholarships, we can help students’ meet their financial needs,” said Mary Commons, director of the ATC Foundation.

The foundation recently announced it will award 25 $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors enrolling at ATC this fall as part of the college’s Within Reach initiative. The initiative is a joint effort between ATC and the Aiken County Public School District to increase the number of Aiken County students enrolled in college.

Also among new scholarships is the Roland & Peggy Smith Scholarship for 2015 graduates of Midland Valley and Silver Bluff high schools. Twenty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to those enrolling at ATC this fall.  Many other scholarships are available, including some scholarships for students entering specific fields such as welding and criminal justice.

A number of scholarships are also available for current ATC students based on financial need, program of study, and involvement in the community.

With a combination of scholarships, South Carolina Lottery Tuition Assistance and ATC’s affordable cost, a student can pay for most, if not all, of their tuition and fees for the fall semester.
