The Planning and Research Office provides an Annual Program Evaluation Report (APER) to the SC Technical College System Office. One of the major components of this report is the reporting of graduate placement rates. The Planning and research office reports on those students that have graduated from July 1 through June 30 of the previous fiscal year.
The Planning and Research Office uses a number of sources to collect information on student employment and institution enrollment status. A graduate is counted as successfully placed if they are employed, enrolled at another institution, or joined the military. The Planning and Research office sends a graduate survey to all those students that have graduated during the period of July 1 through June 30 of the previous fiscal year. The office uses the information collected from these surveys to determine if graduates are employed. The names of graduates are run through the Clearinghouse to identify those graduates that may have enrolled at another college or university. Finally, the names of graduates are sent to the SC Employment Security Commission using a service called E-Track; to identify those graduates that have collected a wage in South Carolina during any of the past nine quarters.
