Campus Awareness & Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, and Sex Offenses

• All Aiken Technical College employees are required to complete annual training on the topics of sexual harassment and Title IX.
• Aiken Technical College provides activities and resources for students, designed to prevent sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.
• Information about Title IX, the Clery Act and the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 is provided annually at the College’s bi-monthly College Wide Information Session.
• The College provides an Employee Assistance Program as part of its benefits package. For more information about the Employee Assistance Program, please contact the Human Resources Office at (803) 508-7497.
• The Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Coordinator, and Investigators attend external training periodically as needed to equip them for their roles and responsibilities.
• Information about Title IX and related topics is provided to new students and is presented at each new student orientation session held prior to academic terms.
• Aiken Technical College provides counseling services for students. Students seeking counseling assistance may contact the Student Wellness & Accessibility Manager by calling (803) 508-7410 or by visiting the Student Activities Center (Building B, Office B-131D).
• Events designed to raise awareness among students and employees about sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking are held each year.

Reporting of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault

Any student who believes that they have experienced sexual harassment or sexual assault may file a report with the College’s Chief Student Services Officer, Campus Security office, or Title IX Coordinator. The designated coordinator will work with the complaining student to implement supportive measures as appropriate during the pendency of the investigation and proceedings. The Title IX Coordinator is Melinda Rodgers, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. Her office is located at Building A, Suite A-167, and she can be reached by email or by phone at (803) 508-7336.

Reports may also be filed by any other member of the college community. The student may also file a criminal report regarding the alleged conduct.

All employees are responsible for helping to eliminate discrimination and/or harassment. If any employee believes that they experienced or witnessed discrimination and/or harassment, the employee should immediately notify their supervisor, a human resource representative, or any other official. According to the policy of the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education (SBTCE), any employee who believes that they have experienced discrimination and/or harassment shall have the right to seek an investigation or to file a complaint in accordance with SBTCE Policy Number Policy 8-5-101 and Procedures 8-5-101.1 and 8-5-101.2.

Stop Campus Hazing Act

As required by the Stop Campus Hazing Act, Aiken Technical College will publish a Campus Hazing Transparency Report, updated at least every six months, if a recognized or established student organization is found responsible for a hazing violation. Interested members of the campus community can also visit our Annual Security Report, which as of October 2026, will include statistics for reported hazing incidents that occur within our reporting jurisdiction consistent with federal law.
