Welcoming New Students at ATC
At Aiken Technical College, you’re a new student if you’ve never taken a college course. You’re also a new student if this is your first college experience since high school. Therefore, former dual enrollment students should apply as new students.
Enrollment Steps
Before coming to campus
- Apply for admission
- Please allow three business days to process your application. (Holidays and/or college closings will extend this timeline.) The process includes identity verification and review of your application for any missing information. You may be requested to provide additional documentation in person at the Enrollment Services Center. Please regularly check the email address you used for the application for follow-up information and details to prevent delay in your acceptance and enrollment at the college.
- Submit high school transcript or GED
- Submit ACT or SAT scores if you have taken these tests.
- Apply for benefits
- Apply for Financial Aid
- Apply for Veteran's Benefits (if eligible)
When you’re on campus
- Complete the ATC placement test (Accuplacer)
- If you have taken the SAT and earned a verbal score of 500 or higher, you are exempt from taking the Reading and Writing portions of the Accuplacer. You must take the math portion of the Accuplacer test regardless of score.
- If you have taken the ACT English test and received a score of 18 or higher and the ACT Math test and received a score of 22 or higher, you are exempt from taking all sections of the Accuplacer test. If your ACT Math is below 22, you will need to take the Math section of Accuplacer.
