Aiken Technical College partners with employers to provide apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship opportunities that combine hands-on experience with industry-focused technical training. These programs help prepare individuals for high-demand careers while supporting employers in building strong workforce pipelines for the future.
Registered Apprenticeship Programs
Registered apprenticeship programs combine paid employment with structured technical instruction, allowing apprentices to gain real-world experience while developing industry-specific skills. Individuals interested in participating must first apply directly with the employer partner before enrolling in the associated training program.
- HVAC Apprenticeship
The HVAC Apprenticeship Program prepares apprentices for careers in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning through a combination of technical instruction and on-the-job training. Apprentices develop skills in refrigeration, electrical systems, diagnostics, installation, and repair for residential and commercial HVAC systems. Employer partners include Carolina HVAC.
- Industrial Maintenance Apprenticeship
The Industrial Maintenance Apprenticeship Program prepares individuals for multi-craft maintenance technician roles through hands-on experience and technical instruction in electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial troubleshooting. Employer partners include Shaw Industries.
- Nuclear Operator Apprenticeship
The Nuclear Operator Apprenticeship Program prepares individuals for operator positions at the Savannah River Site through a combination of paid employment and technical training. Apprentices complete coursework in areas such as nuclear science, physics, chemistry, heat transfer, fluid flow, and mechanical and electrical systems while gaining hands-on industry experience. Employer partners include Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, Savannah River Mission Completion, and Savannah River National Laboratory, all located at the Savannah River Site.
