The Pre-Surgical Technology Certificate is tailored to prepare students for vital roles in the sterile processing department of healthcare facilities. This comprehensive program blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on laboratory participation, empowering students with the skills and expertise needed to excel in the sterile processing environment.
Our curriculum encompasses a rigorous study of sterile processing principles, infection control practices, and regulatory standards essential for maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and surgical care. Through engaging theory classes, and clinical rotations led by experienced instructors, students will gain a deep understanding of microbiology, sterilization techniques, instrument handling, and quality assurance protocols.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to sit for the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification exam. This nationally recognized credential validates their proficiency in sterile processing and enhances their marketability in the competitive healthcare job market.
The certificate is also designed to prepare students to meet prerequisites for admission into the Surgical Technology Program at ATC.
- Clinicals
Students will be required to participate in off-campus training in working clinical facilities therefore students will need reliable transportation, since assigned clinical sites are off campus.
