Associate in Applied Science
Overview
The Associate in Applied Science with a Major in Radiologic Technology degree prepares entry-level individuals to take and successfully pass the certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and to develop good communication and strong interpersonal skills to be able to competently perform within the healthcare environment.
Using advanced technology with a human touch is essential to being a good radiographer. Our programs build technical know-how while also teaching important communication skills. Coursework addresses patient care considerations, key medical knowledge, legal and ethical behavior and appropriate work habits. Students attend classes and receive hands-on training on working in clinical facilities.
Students applying for any of the Health Science Programs must go through a separate application process after being admitted to the college. There are additional requirements in order to qualify for admission to each of these programs. The competitive admissions criteria are updated annually and students should review the current information for changes in the admissions process. Information packets detailing the application process for each competitive admissions program are available on the ATC website. Students will be required to participate in off-campus training in working clinical facilities and therefore will need reliable transportation to get to these locations.

Full disclosure of any ticket, citation, summons, arrest, charges or convictions for a misdemeanor or felony is required on the application to the program. Individuals who have been charged or convicted of a misdemeanor or felony must pre-apply to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Written pre-approval to take the examination must be attached to the program application by the application deadline. Contact the Program Director for pre-approval information well in advance of the program application deadline. Written preapproval may take up to 12 weeks to complete.

Credentialing Examination: The number of students who pass, on the first attempt, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination, or an unrestricted state licensing examination, compared with the number of graduates who take the examination within six months of graduation. The five-year average benchmark established by the JRCERT is 75%.
