Overview

The Associate in Applied Science with a Major in General Technology with Emphasis in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning degree provides students with the skills necessary for the installation, repair and calibration of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating systems.

Our program combines academic knowledge with practical experiences on over 20 different models of air conditioning and heating units. This diversity of training equipment, combined with installation and troubleshooting exercises, prepares our students to be effective team members upon graduation.

Admission to the Associate in Applied Science with a Major in General Technology Emphasis in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning program is open to all students who have met the appropriate prerequisites or have acceptable placement scores. Students must successfully meet all applicable course prerequisites before enrolling in program courses.

How hands-on is this program?

Very hands-on. You’ll work directly with equipment to learn installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This real-world experience is critical because employers expect you to be job-ready from day one.

What certifications will I need, and does the program prepare me for them?

Most HVAC technicians need EPA certification to handle refrigerants. This program prepares you for that requirement and gives you the foundational skills needed for additional certifications as you advance in your career.

Is this a stable career option?

Yes, HVAC is a strong long-term career. As you gain experience, you can specialize, move into supervisory roles, or even start your own business. Demand remains steady because these systems are essential in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
