2018 Commencement Ceremony: Guest Information

Aiken Technical College will have its 2018 Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. at the USC Aiken Convocation Center, 2049 Champion Way, Graniteville, SC.

Graduates, faculty, and staff should check their email for directions and specific details for the event.

General Guest Information

Attendance

Commencement is open to the public and no tickets are required. Doors will open to the public at 6 p.m. The ceremony will start promptly at 7 p.m.

Seating will be available on both the floor and in the stadium seating. Accessible seating will be available on the floor. Entrances to floor seating will be closed at 6:45 p.m. and those arriving after that time must enter the event space via the upper entrances (can access via stairs or elevator).

Ushers will be available to direct guests to entrances and accessible seating.

Parking

Guest parking will be available in any non-reserved lots at the Convocation Center. Parking attendants will be on hand to assist as needed. Accessible parking is available in front of the Convocation Center.

No parking is allowed on the highway or along the roads!

During the Ceremony

Guests should refrain from applause and vocal expressions of celebration as graduates’ names are called, allowing everyone an opportunity to hear their graduates’ names as they are recognized. There will be an opportunity for the audience to celebrate once all graduates have been announced.

A designated area will be available for those wishing to capture photos of graduates after they receive their diploma cover and as they return to their seats. Efforts to capture photos must be contained to the designated area and not block walkways or impede the flow of graduates as they return to their seats.

Following the Ceremony

Guests will be asked to remain at their seats until the recessional is complete. Guests may then enter into the lobby and outdoor areas to meet and celebrate with graduates.

College backdrops will be available in the Convocation Center lobby for photos.
