Aiken Tech to host cyber camp this June

Aiken Technical College will host a new camp this June to increase youth’s interest in computer technology and robotics.

The Cyber Power Camp, open to rising eighth through 12th graders, will be held June 9-13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Aiken Tech campus. The camp application is open through April 15. There is a $25 participation fee for those who are selected to participate in the camp. To apply, visit https://www.atc.edu/MetallicaScholars/CyberCamp.

During the camp, participants will get to build and program a model rover and complete challenges that go along with the camp’s theme, Mars Rover Mission.

“Our goal is to spark curiosity and build confidence in these students by exposing them to real-world applications of technology, from cybersecurity challenges to robotics,” said Chad Crumbaker, vice president of academic affairs and workforce innovation. “We hope this camp not only ignites their interest in cyber and technical careers but also helps them see the incredible opportunities available through technical education.”

The camp is supported by the Metallica Scholars Initiative, a program led by Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, and the American Association of Community Colleges, which aims to strengthen communities by advancing career and technical education. For more information about Aiken Tech's participation in the initiative, visit www.atc.edu/MetallicaScholars.
