Aiken Technical College Employees Receive Educator of the Year Awards

(March 2, 2016, Aiken, SC) Three Aiken Technical College employees were recognized for outstanding service and achievement during the recent South Carolina Technical Education Association conference in Myrtle Beach.

  

Each college within the SC Technical College System selects Educator of the Year awardees from their institutions in the categories of faculty/teaching, staff, and administrator/manager. This year’s honorees for ATC were: Hannah W. Williams, faculty/teaching category; Patricia L. Whitfield, staff category; and Evelyn L. Pride, administrator/manager category.

  

Williams is the lead instructor for medical/surgical nursing, chair of the Nursing Admissions Committee, and serves on the Curriculum and Faculty ACEN committees. During her six years with ATC, she has also taught courses in the LPN to RN transition program and pharmacology courses.

  

Whitfield has been employed with ATC for more than five years and is currently the administrative assistant for the Business, Computer Technology & Training Division. Her role includes managing all administrative duties for the business and computer technology academic programs and non-credit corporate training courses. Whitfield also manages rentals of the College’s facilities.

  

Pride, who has worked at ATC for 20 years, currently serves as the Student Outreach and Development Manager which includes community outreach, supervising and advising Campus Ambassadors and Student Government Association officers, and coordinating the College’s Student Experience events. Previous positions held include Director of Student Activities, Director of Admissions, lead recruiter, counselor, academic advisor and coordinator for the Single Parent program.

  

The selection process for the awards are held annually in the fall and honorees are recognized during the annual conference in February.
