Aiken Technical College Named to ’Military Times Best’ List

Aiken Technical College has again received national recognition for its support of veterans. The College was recently named to the Military Times Best: Colleges 2018 list, formerly known as Best for Vets. This is the second consecutive year that the College has received the honor.

“We are pleased to receive this national recognition for our efforts to support veterans and military students attending ATC. The College’s support for veterans is based on our commitment to students and our collaboration with community partners,” stated S. Vinson Burdette, Vice President of Student Affairs and Marketing.

ATC offers a number of services dedicated to serving military members, veterans, and their families such as a dedicated Veterans Affairs enrollment advisor, cost-of-living grants and sponsorships, a Student Veterans Association, student veteran ambassadors, and opportunities for student veterans to interact with local employers.

The College is also the recipient of a Fluor Military Support Coalition grant from the Fluor Foundation, which enables the College to provide grants and additional support services.

To be considered for the honor, Military Times considered documentation submitted by the College showcasing how it supports those within the military community as well as information from Veterans Affairs and Defense departments, IPEDS Data Center, College Scoreboard, and the Cohort Default Rate Database.

“Of the hundreds of schools that applied, fewer than half received the Military Times Best: Colleges designation this year. Only the best made the cut,” said George Altman, the Military Times editor who oversees the annual rankings.

Military members, veterans and their families can visit www.ATC.edu to learn more about the College’s services and educational opportunities.
