Aiken Technical College reintroduces the EMT Basic Certificate program in eight-week format
Aiken Technical College is reintroducing its Emergency Medical Technician—Basic Certificate program in an eight-week format, with classes beginning in May.
“Reimagining the EMT Basic Certificate as an eight-week program reflects our commitment to innovative, workforce-responsive education,” said Chad Crumbaker, J.D., vice president of academic affairs and workforce innovation. “This structure provides rigorous training while helping students move quickly from training to meaningful employment in emergency services in our community. We are excited to relaunch our EMT program this summer.”
Classes begin Tuesday, May 12. Students will attend classes Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the program.
Over the eight weeks, students will be prepared for entry-level EMT roles by learning the skills needed to provide basic medical interventions and safely transport patients in an ambulance. Students who complete the program will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) EMT-Basic exam.
Those interested in enrolling must complete the college’s free, online admissions application at www.atc.edu and complete the college enrollment process.
Prospective students with questions about the program may contact program instructor, Dr. Michael Heidbreder at heidbrederm@atc.edu.
