Aiken Technical College Welcomes New Vice President of Advancement
Aiken Technical College (ATC) has hired Mechelle English to lead its newly formed Advancement Division.
English, a native of Columbia, SC, assumed the Vice President of Advancement role on September 1. In this position, she will guide the College’s strategic initiatives in institutional effectiveness, communications, and fundraising. She will also supervise the following offices under the Advancement Division: ATC Foundation, Institutional Effectiveness, Teaching & Technology, and Marketing & Public Relations.
“It is a privilege to join Aiken Technical College as Vice President to lead the new Division of Advancement. I am thrilled to work with President Dr. Forest Mahan and many others to build on the College’s legacy and successes to provide the resources that our students, faculty, and staff richly deserve. I have a talented team and we share a collective goal to help move ATC forward,” said English.
She is also looking forward to using her experience to advance the College as it prepares for its 50th anniversary in two years and the future. English brings to the role a passion for public service that spans more than 25 years in both state government and higher education.
Before ATC, she most recently served as the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Florida A&M University. Other roles she has held include Senior Major Gifts Officer at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Senior Director of Development at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at South Carolina State University, and Chief Advancement Officer at LeMoyne-Owen College.
English holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia College.
