(March 27, 2015, Aiken, SC) Forty Aiken Technical College students were inducted into the College’s Alpha Xi Lambda chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) at the Spring 2015 ceremony last week.

The students were honored with a traditional ceremony as family and friends gathered in support. Guest speaker and ATC Business Department Chair Lee Hunt shared quotes from Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain, and encouraged the students to give thanks and “pay it forward” in their search for purpose.

“It doesn’t matter if you know what you’re going to do in life, as long as the content of your life has a purpose,” Hunt said. “Make the commitment that no matter where you go, how you live or what you do, the world is a better place when you leave it. Then, you will have lived that life of purpose, and you will have found success.”

Many ATC faculty and staff were there to congratulate the students in their success including ATC President Dr. Susan Winsor and ATC Vice President of Education and Training Dr. Gemma Frock, who impressed upon the students that positivity in all things will lead them to their destiny.

“It is my sincere wish that each of you will continuing building your reputation—one of qualitiy, integrity and excellence—and seek opportunities for leadership and service in your community,” Frock said.

PTK is endorsed by the American Association of Community Colleges as the official honor society of two-year colleges. The organization recognizes academic excellence and provides opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service.

The ATC Spring 2015 inductees were:
Katherine Bailey, Randi Blackburn, Bianca Braga, Sherria Bryant, Jennifer Childers, Adrian Coleman, Heather Couch, Allison Craven, Jennifer Croft, Alexis Curtis, Aubrey Dakin, Rachel Day, Elizabeth Difranco, Michael Dowd, Sonia Duarte, Roscoe Epps, Molly Goble, Alicia Green, Kayla Keisler, Samantha Kendrick, Earnest Key, Katherine Kihm, Kari Koon, Valerie Leguizamon, Melanie Mack, Judy McLaughlin, Donovan Miano, Nicholas Pippin, Angela Riddle, Lori Rodgers, Margaret Royal, Scott Rutherford, Fanghua Short, Adria Simpkins, Billy Slaton, Siara Wallace, Benjamin Warner, David Webb, Hui Wells, and Kevin Williams.
