ATC Green Team Receives Community Impact Award

Aiken Technical College was recently recognized by the Keep Aiken County Beautiful (KACB) organization.

The ATC Green Team committee received the Community Impact Award for its recycling activities on campus and its involvement in community clean-up and education efforts.

In March, the ATC Green Team participated in KACB’s annual Great American Cleanup community event to pick up litter along Robert M. Bell Parkway. Faculty, staff, students, and retirees joined in, making the group one of the largest to participate in the local event.

Through ATC Green’s leadership, the College has implemented several recycling and conservation initiatives, including bottle refill stations, hands-free faucets, new indoor and outdoor recycling bins, and household battery recycling stations.

The group also organizes an annual Earth Day Expo that features local partners such as KACB, SC Department of Health and Environmental Control, and local businesses and organizations. Plans are underway for the 2022 Earth Day Expo, scheduled for March 16, 2022.

For more information about the ATC Green Team, contact co-chairs Jill Uhler at uhlerj@atc.edu or Dora Robson at robinsond6@atc.edu.

Other members of the ATC Green Team include Jill Golden, Shareffa Harris, Tara Johnson, and Patricia Williamson.
