ATC to Host Annual Symposium
(January 14, 2016, Aiken, SC) Aiken Technical College, University of South Carolina Aiken, Aiken County Public School District, and Bamberg County District Two will present the annual STEM Symposium on Friday, Jan. 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held at ATC in the 700/800 Building.
“The purpose of this event is to give area teachers information on how to implement STEM lessons into their classrooms,” said Elizabeth Dykes, the STEM Events Coordinator at ATC.
Nearly 100 area elementary, middle and high school teachers are expected to attend the event. Symposium sessions will be led by STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) professionals on topics including: gender equity in the classroom, career pathways, preparing students for college-level biology and chemistry courses, and comprehensive approaches to STEM education.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Roger Collins, Tech Training Specialist and Apprenticeship Coordinator at Siemens in Charlotte.
