BAE Systems Donates $6,000 to ATC Within Reach Scholarship Initiative

BAE Systems has donated $6,000 for the Aiken Technical College Foundation Within Reach Scholarship Initiative, which aims to reduce the financial barriers graduating high school students face when transitioning to college.

“We truly appreciate the continued support of BAE Systems in providing scholarships for graduating seniors at our seven area high schools. BAE has been supporting ATC since 2000, and we value our partnership with them,” said ATC Foundation Director Mary Commons.

Since the initiative began in 2015, the Foundation has awarded more than $225,000 to graduating seniors from Aiken County Public School District high schools who have applied to the College.

The Foundation will award an additional $50,000 to the Class of 2020. The application period was from January 1 through March 1. Recipients will be announced at a later date.

“The Within Reach Scholarship gives hope and encouragement to those students who want to continue their education and attend Aiken Technical College,” said Commons. “Some students might think they cannot afford college, but with this scholarship and other financial aid, ATC is within reach, and we are making a difference in our students’ lives.”
