Bank of America grant fills in financial gap for Aiken Technical College students

Funding will help students complete studies

Bank of America is continuing to support Aiken Technical College (ATC) students in completing their college education by awarding an economic mobility grant to the ATC Foundation.

The $10,000 grant will go toward the ATC Foundation’s Student Completion Microgrants Program. The microgrants are provided to eligible students who have completed at least 75 percent of their program of study but are at risk of not completing for financial reasons.

"Partnering with Aiken Technical College to address important issues like workforce development and employment is part of our commitment to creating sustainable change in our community," said Ora Parish, president of Bank of America Augusta-Aiken. "Investing in Augusta-Aiken organizations demonstrates how Bank of America is taking action to provide the resources and support needed to help build thriving communities long-term."

The microgrants have significantly impacted recipients, such as ATC student Kendra Tucker.

“Receiving this grant has alleviated a significant financial burden and has allowed me to continue my education with a greater sense of focus and dedication,” Tucker stated in a thank you note to Bank of America for their support. “I am truly honored and grateful for this generous financial assistance.”

Fellow student John Kelly shared similar sentiments.

“Working full-time and going to school while having a family is not for the faint of heart,” Kelly shared. “Every little bit helps with this desire to finally finish my degree after so many years. So thank you to all those that have helped me along this journey.”

In addition to funding, microgrant recipients receive free holistic student support services such as tutoring, student coaching, counseling, and career services.

Those interested in learning more about the Student Completion Microgrants Program and ways to support Aiken Tech students should contact the ATC Foundation at atcfoundation@atc.edu or visit www.atc.edu/foundation/.
