Continuing Education: Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Program

The Pre-Apprenticeship Construction course at Aiken Technical College is provided in partnership with Savannah River Site (SRS) and local trade unions. The course prepares students for careers in construction.

The course will be held February 17 through March 20 on Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The course is free for South Carolina residents and $1,000 for out-of-state residents.

Participants must have at least a high school diploma and be committed to completing the course. To register, contact Patricia Whitfield at whitfiep@atc.edu or (803) 508-7362.

During the course, participants earn a certificate of completion and have the opportunity to obtain OSHA-10 certification. Course topics include employability skills, mathematics, blueprint reading, hand tools, and safety practices.

Those completing the course can interview with local trade unions for further training and employment including opportunities on new facility construction projects at SRS. This course bridges the gap between education and real-world job opportunities in the construction industry.
