Continuing Education: Shielded Metal Arc Welding/Stick Welding Course
The Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) course, also known as stick welding, is designed for those who desire to learn about the SMAW process that uses a consumable electrode coated in flux to lay the weld.
The course will be held September 24-November 26 with class meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m. The cost of the course is $849.
The course will include both classroom and lab time and will cover topics such as safety and health awareness, the basic of units of measurement, and be introduced to blueprint reading. Upon successful completion, students will study and practice basic welding princiiples involving thermal cutting processes, drawing and welding symbol interpretation, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) in all positions.
Students will be required to wear cotton long-sleeve shirts, long pants, and leather boots.
