Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
This course is designed for persons who desire to learn the SMAW, also known informally as Stick welding, process that uses a consumable electrode coated in flux to lay the weld. Students will learn safety and health awareness, the basic units of measurement, and be introduced to blueprint
Upon successful completion of this course, students will study and practice basic welding principles involving Thermal Cutting Processes, Drawing and Welding Symbol Interpretation, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) in all positions. (75 hours)
The course will be held October 6, 2020 through February 4, 2021 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in room 1722. The cost for this course is $849.
Note: Cotton long sleeve shirt, long pants, and leather boots are required.
PREREQUISITE: MIG. Obtain documentation and notify TBDD.
