Continuing Education: Stick Welding (SMAW)

This course is designed for persons who desire to learn the SMAW, also known informally as Stick welding, process that uses a consumable electrode coated in flux to lay the weld. Students will learn safety and health awareness, the basic units of measurement, and be introduced to blueprint reading.


Upon successful completion of this course, students will study and practice basic welding principles involving Thermal Cutting Processes, Drawing and Welding Symbol Interpretation, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) in all positions. (75 hours)
Note: Cotton long sleeve shirt, long pants, and leather boots are required. 
Prerequisite: (GMAW) MIG
