Dynamic Dialogues: "Mart to Art: A Repurposed Life" Documentary Screening
Aiken Technical College will host a free documentary screening of “Mart to Art: A Repurposed Life” on Tuesday, Nov. 12 as part of its Dynamic Dialogues Guest Lecture Series.
The event will be held in the College's amphitheater with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by the documentary screening at 6:30 p.m. Producer and director of the film, George Wingard, and other local historians will lead a producer’s talk about the film following the screening.
The film tells the history of a building, now known as the Little Red Barn in Barnwell, S.C., from its beginnings in the former community of Leigh to the present. Leigh was one of several communities that once existed in the area now occupied by the Savannah River Site.
The building’s story and impact is shared through interviews with Wingard and other historians, former residents of the area, past and current owners of the Little Red Barn, and former City of Barnwell Mayor Edward Lemon.
Registration is required. To register and obtain free tickets to the event, visit https://mart-to-art-aikenpremiere.eventbrite.com.
