Mended Hearts Donates $6,300 to ATC Foundation
The Aiken Technical College Foundation received a $6,300 donation Friday, January 12 from Mended Hearts Chapter 294 to benefit the College’s nursing program.
“Their support means that students will learn critical cardiac care on state-of-the-art equipment. The Mended Hearts’ generosity means that we can continue to update our SIM Labs,” said Mary Commons, ATC Foundation Director.
The donation will help purchase equipment such as a laptop LLEAP patient monitor, LLEAP educational session, serial adapter for Sim Baby, and on-site tech service LLEAP updates.
All of the equipment is used in the nursing simulation labs.
“The simulation labs accelerate their learning process and makes it so meaningful. It gives them hands-on experience. It really enhances the learning process,” said Philip Winsor, past president of the local Mended Hearts chapter.
The chapter raises funds for donations through a golf tournament in September each year at The Reserve Club at Woodside.
Since 2007, the local chapter has donated more than $56,600 to the ATC Foundation.
“They have taken great interest in seeing that our students are prepared for the workforce,” said Commons.
