Practical Nursing Program Ranked No. 4 in South Carolina
Aiken Technical College’s practical nursing program has been ranked No. 4 in South Carolina by PracticalNursing.org.
Programs were evaluated on their pass rates from the past five years on the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) for Practical Nurses. Results from each year were weighted with most recent data weighing more in calculations, according to the site.
The College’s practical nursing program currently has a 100 percent pass rate on the exam. The NCLEX determines a student’s eligibility to obtain a nursing license after graduating and is the key for those looking to enter the nursing field, said Dr. Hannah Williams, nursing department chair.
From the time students start the program, they are being prepared to have a successful career in nursing, she added.
“We have a rigorous curriculum that includes a variety of clinical experiences from acute care, long-term, pediatrics, mental health, obstetrics, and gynecology. We include frequent use of high-fidelity simulations that provide opportunities and experiences that may not be readily available in a clinical setting,” said Williams. “Lastly, our faculty members possess a diverse nursing background from which they can share experiences and help prepare our students for entry into the healthcare profession.”
ATC’s practical nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
