SC Technical College System President to be ATC Commencement Speaker
Aiken Technical College will welcome Dr. Tim Hardee, president of the South Carolina Technical College System, as its Commencement speaker on May 9. Ceremonies will be held at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Gregg-Graniteville Student Activities Center gymnasium.
Dr. Hardee has more than 30 years of experience in education throughout the state of South Carolina. Prior to his current role, he served as president of Central Carolina Technical College in Sumter, S.C. He has also served as a teacher, coach, counselor and principal at the K-12 level.
He has participated on several boards and councils committed to furthering communities and the state through education, workforce development and economic development.
Dr. Hardee has a B.S. in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University and a M. Ed. in Counselor Education and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. He is also a graduate of Leadership South Carolina and the South Carolina Economic Developers Program.
His awards have included the Coastal Carolina University Outstanding Alumni Award and the Sumter Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Achievement Award.
Dr. Hardee will speak at both the 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. ceremonies which will recognize a total of more than 400 graduates.
Business, computer technology, general education and nursing graduates will participate in the 3 p.m. ceremony. Allied health and technical education graduates will participate in the 7 p.m. ceremony. Both ceremonies are open to the public. Tickets are not required for entry.
A reception will be held in the courtyard immediately following each ceremony.
