Student Medical Assisting Association Donates to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta

Aiken Technical College (Aiken Tech)’s Student Medical Assisting Association (SMAA) recently donated items to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta.

Members held a campus drive to collect items such as disposable plates, K-cups, creamer, soap, laundry detergent, and shower curtains and clips. Several containers filled with donations were delivered to the nonprofit organization.

“The Ronald McDonald House supports so many families of children being treated at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia. The last thing a parent should worry about is how they will pay for a hotel and food while they have a sick child who may be chronically or terminally ill. The SMAA looks forward to further supporting the “House” in future projects,” said SMAA Advisor Crystal Driesen.

Aiken Tech’s SMAA is affiliated with the Aiken Chapter of the South Carolina Society of Medical Assistants and the American Association of Medical Assistants. For more information about the student organization, contact Crystal Driesen at driesenc@atc.edu.
