Unforgettable: A Cecil J. Williams Photography Exhibit Opening Reception
The Center for African American History, Art and Culture (CAAHAC), Aiken Technical College, and the University of South Carolina Aiken invite the community to attend the opening of Unforgettable: A Cecil J. Williams Photography Exhibit on Tuesday, January 20 at CAAHAC, 120 York Street, Aiken, SC.
Doors open at 5 p.m. followed by the program at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will feature the work of Cecil J. Williams, a renowned civil rights photographer, activist, and historian. His photography has documented defining moments, leaders, and everyday acts of courage during the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina.
The opening program will include welcome remarks from the Center for African American History, Art and Culture, a historical context provided by historian Wayne O’Bryant, and brief remarks from Cecil J. Williams. Guests will then be invited to view the exhibit and enjoy light refreshments.
This exhibit opening is part of the broader community observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It complements Williams’ appearance as the featured speaker at this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration on Sunday, January 25 at the USCA Convocation Center.
The exhibit will be on display at the Center through February 20, 2026.
