Virtual Giving Gala Raises Record Amount for Student Scholarships

The Aiken Technical College (ATC) Foundation raised a record of $28,000 for student scholarships during its annual Giving Gala on November 6. It was the event’s fourth year, but the first time in a virtual format.

“The Virtual Giving Gala was a success, thanks to our sponsors, donors, and community support. The new event format allowed us to showcase why scholarships are so impactful to our students. We are thrilled with the level of support received for supporting deserving ATC students,” said ATC Foundation Director Dr. Beth LaClair.

The virtual event consisted of an online auction, student testimonials, entertainment, and live updates from ATC President Dr. Forest Mahan; Keyatta Priester, member of the Aiken County Commission for Technical and Comprehensive Education; and Foundation Trustee board members.

ATC students Jesus Magdaleno and Elizabeth Barfield were featured during the Virtual Giving Gala and shared how ATC and the Foundation’s scholarships have impacted their lives. Entertainment included performances by Brooke Lundy, Ken Gabriel, and Patrick Davis.

The ATC Foundation awarded more than $143,000 in student scholarships during the 2019-2020 academic year.
