Continuing Education: Certified Tower Technician Course

The Office of Continuing Education is offering a Certified Tower Technician course from November 10-22. Classes are held Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Aiken Technical College campus. This course is no cost for eligible South Carolina residents.

The course prepares students for entry-level wireless tower technician level one positions. The certification consists of 120 hours of training in the following areas:

  • Telecommunications Regulations and Standards

  • Worksite Hazard Awareness

  • Authorized Climber

  • Rigging

  • LTE Installation

  • Basic Electricity

  • First Aid/CPR

  • OSHA-10

Students also participate in tower climb activities to incorporate skills learned in the classroom setting.

Register today by calling (803) 508-7362 or emailing whitfiep@atc.edu. Participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old or older

  • Hold at least a high school diploma or GED and provide documentation

  • Be eligible to work in the United States

  • Be physically able to carry a body harness weighing 70 pounds

  • Be committed to completing the course.
