Unforgettable: A Cecil J. Williams Photography Exhibit Opening

The community came together for the opening of the Unforgettable: A Cecil J. Williams Photography Exhibit. We are grateful to everyone who joined us that evening to honor the work of Cecil J. Williams.

The Center for African American History, Art and Culture (CAAHAC), Aiken Technical College, and the University of South Carolina Aiken invited the community to attend the opening of Unforgettable: A Cecil J. Williams Photography.

The exhibit featured the work of Cecil J. Williams, a renowned civil rights photographer, activist, and historian. His photography has documented defining moments, leaders, and everyday acts of courage during the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina.

The opening program included welcome remarks from the Center for African American History, Art and Culture, and historical context from historian Wayne O’Bryant. Guests were able to walk around, view the exhibit, and enjoy light refreshments. The exhibit will be on display at the Center through February 20, 2026.

“This moment is proof that consistency beats doubt. That faith can carry you when strength runs low, and that your past does not define your future,” said Brown.

For her, the words carry a personal story of her own path from pain to perseverance to triumph.
