ATC Students Awarded Scholarships by the Foundation for Surgical Technology

Two Aiken Technical College surgical technology students were recently awarded academic scholarships from the Foundation for Surgical Technology.

Brittany Hyman was awarded a $1,500 scholarship, which was sponsored by the Foundation.

“I chose surgical technology as a career because I wanted to expand my knowledge in the medical field,” said Hyman. “I enjoy…having a role in making a difference in someone’s life.”

Sully Delgadillo received a $1,000 scholarship, which was sponsored by the Foundation and the South Carolina State Assembly.

“Being inside the operating room is exhilarating and I wouldn’t trade this experience with anything in the world,” said Delgadillo, adding that she looks forward to “making the world a better place one surgery at a time.”

Both students were recognized in the August issue of The Surgical Technologist Journal.
