Cadets to Graduate Thursday from Post ChalleNGe Program
Lt. Col. Gregory Farley, the commander of the SC Army National Guard McCrady Training Center, will be the keynote speaker for the POST ChalleNGe graduation Thursday, Dec. 6 at Aiken Technical College. The ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Student Activities Center gymnasium (900 Building).
Farley has received numerous military awards including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, NATO Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Army Service Medal.
He will speak to 20 cadets who have completed the 20-week program and have earned an applied science certificate from ATC in one of the following high-demand areas: welding, basic tower and wireless installation, production technology, or patient care assisting.
Program participants have also earn additional credentials such as WorkKeys during the program.
The POST ChalleNGe program is a collaborative effort between the South Carolina Army National Guard, Aiken Technical College, Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute Camp Long facility, Lower Savannah Council of Governments’ Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, and Aiken County Public School District. It is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
This will be the sixth cohort to complete the grant-funded program.
A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony. This event is open to the public.
