The Medical Assisting program prepares students for a versatile role in healthcare, supporting physicians and care teams in a variety of clinical settings. Medical assistants are trained to handle both clinical and administrative responsibilities, making them an essential part of today’s healthcare environment.
Students develop hands-on skills in patient care and medical office operations, including assisting with exams and procedures, performing basic lab work, administering medications, and managing records and scheduling. The program combines classroom learning, lab experience, and a supervised clinical externship, preparing graduates to work in settings such as physician offices, clinics, and urgent care centers.
The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). Graduates of a CAAHEP-accredited program are eligible to sit for the CMA (AAMA) national certification examination administered by the American Association of Medical Assistants, which is considered the gold-standard medical assisting credential.
