Medical Assisting

Medical Assistants fill many roles—maintaining records, performing routine office lab procedures and screenings, and assisting with examinations and treatments. Graduates may find themselves working in clinics, emergency medical centers or physicians’ offices.  The Medical Assistant Certificate Program prepares the student to assist the physician in performing selected diagnostic tests as well as business office procedures.

The Medical Assisting Program at Aiken Technical College has a student retention rate of 82.35% for the cohort that entered the program in 2020 and provides support services to facilitate the successful completion of the program. The CMA(AAMA) exam passage rate for the 2020 graduates was 100% with a 93.33% positive job placement. The employers who hired the 2020 graduates of the Medical Assisting Program at Aiken Technical College report a satisfaction rate of 100%.

 Students applying for the Medical Assistant Program must go through a separate application process after being admitted to the college. There are additional requirements in order to qualify for admission to this program. The admission criteria is updated annually and students should review the current information for changes in the admissions process.
