Surgical Technology

Surgeons aren’t the only ones working in an operating room. Surgical technologists are key members of the surgery team--sterilizing equipment, handling specimens, maintaining records and assisting physicians during surgical procedures.

Aiken Technical College’s Surgical Technology program gives students the skills needed to pursue careers in this exciting medical field. Classroom lessons provide the foundation, then students gain hands-on experience working at an off-campus clinical facility.

After completion, students are eligible to take the national certification exam administered through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
