Major in Nursing
This degree teaches students to provide direct patient care that is safe and effective and prepares them to take the registered nurse licensure exam (NCLEX-RN). Coursework includes theory and supervised clinical work.
LPN to ADN (RN) Transition
For those already established as a Licensed Practical Nurse, this degree program can be completed in three semesters. LPNs take a one-semester transition program, then join the last two semesters of the Associate Degree Nurse program, preparing them to take the licensure exam for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Aiken Technical College offers the LPN to ADN (RN) transition program as an evening program, offering students the flexibility of balancing work while working toward their RN degree.

Articulation Agreements
- USC Aiken
- Graduates of Aiken Technical College (ATC), who have passed the NCLEX RN and who are licensed to practice nursing in the State of South Carolina will be accepted to the USCA School of Nursing RN to BSN Completion Track after all prerequisites have been completed with a grade of"C" or better. All prerequisite and co-requisite general education courses may be taken at A TC before transferring to USCA for the last nine nursing courses {32 semester credit hours). These nine courses may be taken online over three consecutive semesters for full time study or over a longer period of time for part-
time study.
- Medical University of South Carolina
- Students from Aiken Technical College who have successfully completed the NCLEX-RN and possess proof of an unencumbered SC or Compact RN license as well as proof of a Current CPR certification will be admitted to the Medical University of South Carolina. Students opting to participate In this program will be required to meet all the Medical University of South Carolina requirements in effect at the time or the student's enrollment. To apply, students must submit a formal application to Medical University of South Carolina at least one (1) full semester in advance of intended enrollment.
- Claflin
- Students from Aiken Technical College who wish to continue their studies in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing must make a formal application for admission to Claflin University prior to their official acceptance into that program. This involves a completed application, including an official copy of their transcripts from Aiken Technical College. Upon receipt and evaluation of these transcripts by Claflin University, and provided that they are in good standing at Aiken Technical College ( defined as having a GPA of at least 2.0 out of a 4.0 scale), and who are not otherwise ineligible to attend Claflin University for disciplinary or behavioral reasons, are assured of acceptance into the RN to BSN program offered by Claflin University.
- Students having completed the Associate in Applied Science Degree at Aiken Technical College must also have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX -RN) and obtained an unrestricted license to practice nursing in SC prior to full admission to Claflin University's RN to BSN program. Upon successful completion of the approved curriculum at Claflin University, Aiken Technical College transfer students shall be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Claflin University.
